Emma Fozard

Bespoke and limited edition millinery that incorporates sculptural wood veneer forms. Distinctive event headwear to enhance and elevate your experience.

Handcrafted amidst the rich hatting heritage of Stockport, Emma Fozard’s distinctive headwear combines traditional millinery with her signature sculptural veneer forms. During her degree in Three Dimensional Design at Manchester School of Art she specialised in creating headpieces using wood veneer. She is drawn to the inherent qualities of wood veneer and exploits its tendency to flex and bend whilst adding colour, pattern and strength to it with the lamination process. Exploring traditional millinery techniques in recent years led her to develop a range of perch hats and headpieces suitable for special occasions, weddings and trips to the races. She is fascinated by how wearing a hat can transform a person; how you feel about yourself and how people respond to you. When her youngest child started school she took the step of setting up a millinery business at Marketplace Studios in Stockport, run by Manchester School of Art. Her work is usually made to order starting with a consultation at her studio by appointment. Emma offers a personal service to create the right headwear to suit the client’s outfit and style; “I love the feeling I get when a client puts on the hat I’ve made them, looks in the mirror and smiles!” Emma’s work has been featured in Cheshire Life, Good Housekeeping and Love Sewing magazines and was exhibited at London Hat Week earlier this year.
