Jo Concannon

One of a kind, quirky pictures from pebbles, sea-glass, driftwood, beach pottery, shells and marine plastic collected when beachcombing and beach cleaning.

unique pictures from the things I find when I’m beachcombing, usually on the beautiful beaches on Anglesey. I make special trips to the North East coast especially for the famous Seaham  seaglass. I use tiny pebbles, seaglass, driftwood, beach pottery, shells and marine plastic such as tangled fishing line.(every beach walk includes a #2minutebeachclean which I promote on my markets and on ETSY) I generally frame my pictures in box frames, but also use canvases, slate, driftwood and frames without glass. I also make cards from my photos or with pebbles. I pride myself on my attention to detail in my work. I will only include pieces I have found on the beach, with simple lines drawn with a 0.05 fine liner pen. I am inspired by the beach and coast, family scenes and nature. I will capture the image with my camera or in my head and try and recreate it in pebbles. I regularly make commissions for special occasions, such as weddings or birthday family gifts and receive very positive feedback. Recently I have been weaving fishing nets and ropes into little bowls and small wall hangings. I sell my work on various ‘makers’ markets in the Manchester area-Cheadle, Stockport, Chorlton and The Lowry and one off events such as open gardens and charity fairs. I also have an Easy shop. I will be producing more work in the future using the marine plastic I’ve collected to make statement pieces.
