Ian Vines

A series of playful photographic collages, featuring ambiguous figures, double images and all sorts of visual trickery.

Photographic based collages developed out of an interest in ambiguous figures, double images and all sorts of visual trickery. Some collages are based on the vase-head motif. In other works, rocky outcrops are suggestive of human heads, or echo the well known Rorschah inkblot test. In some instances, motifs are rotated or inverted, resulting in more abstract images. There is also an interest in playing off photographic images with various forms of painting.
